At the time, he said that the project was nothing more than an idea and was likely still “years and years away.” It’s not much, but it’s clear that Obsidian knows what fans want, which should be enough to keep hope alive for decades. He continued: “If we were to do Fallout, it has to tie in with what Bethesda is doing with Fallout and a lot of other things, but I would always personally say my hope is that before I ride off into the sunset, I’d love to make another Fallout game.” However, Urquhart is always looking to the future for Obsidian: “At some point we’ll start looking into what those next games are going to be, and I would be surprised if Fallout is not on that list.” Work on slightly less massive projects like Grounded and Pentiment still needs to be wrapped up, too. So is there a chance that we’ll get to see a new Fallout game developed by Obsidian at some point in the future, especially with Bethesda and Obsidian both now being owned by Xbox? But of course, there’s no shortage of fans of the post-apocalyptic RPG series that have been hoping for years that Obsidian Entertainment will get another crack at it- after all, Fallout: New Vegas remains one of the most widely beloved instalments in the franchise. It launched two years after Bethesda released Fallout 3, and it was developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Fallout 76 is defying all the odds and doing better than anyone could have expected at the time of its disastrous launch, while Bethesda has said that once Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 are wrapped up, it’ll move on to Fallout 5 next.
